Summary and Purpose of OSHA
The Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) is a federal law that was enacted in 1970 to
make sure that workers in America have a safe working environment. It is estimated that about
14,000 workers had been killed at their workplaces. The United States Congress, as well as
President Nixon, are the ones that are responsible for the enactment of OSHA. The Occupational
Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is a federal agency that is in charge of enforcing the
OSH law. OSHA makes sure that business is giving its workers a safe working environment that
has no hazards and that promotes health and safety. It is also obligated to reduce the occurrence of
injuries at work, fatalities and even illnesses. It orders to do this OSHA runs some programs to
help accomplish these objectives.
