Research in Nursing Practice
Professional nursing practice is tremendously influenced by research both today and
in the future, nursing research is therefore rendered an important component of the process of
care provision (Tingen, Burnett, Murchison, & Zhu, 2009). Research is essential in nursing
since it helps nurses know the most effective practices and thus use them in improving patient
care, the fact that new information always comes to light explains how crucial it is for nurses
to be aware of the importance of research in practice. Patient outcomes are highly improved
when new findings correct any misunderstandings, come up with a new methodology, and
bring about new protocols of treatment (Tingen et al, 2009). Through research, nurses in
practice can adequately respond to changes in government regulations, the health care
environment, and patient populations. Discoveries made by other researchers keep changing
the nursing practice, in addition, information learned in schools can become outdated easily,
and this necessitates the ability to keep up any new development in nursing.
Knowing why research is important in nursing practice is beneficial to every nurse,
nurses should also be aware of nursing research is conducted and how it informs care for
patients (LoBiondo-Wood, & Haber, 2017). For nurses to employ evidence-based practice,
they are required to use research outcomes appropriately to drive care and clinical decisions.
It is vital for nursing practice to be based on research results; the main aspect of evidencebased practice is the following evidence in practice. Given that standards for good nursing
research are high, nursing practice is well guided by quality research since results are
verifiable, unbiased, and can be reproduced under similar conditions of research (LoBiondoWood & Haber, 2017). In practice, nurses make use of research studies that are meaningful

of every research considered by nurses. They need to check for issues such as inconsistencies,
biases, and weaknesses. Evidence-based practice requires proficiency by nurses in
performing evaluations and drawing conclusions on the information they choose to use
inpatient care.
Ethics in Nursing Practice
Ethics refers to the act of using consistent and logical communication, clinical skills,
knowledge, values, and emotions in nursing practice (Dehghani, Mosalanejad, & DehghanNayeri, 2015). Being aware of professional ethics in nursing and its contributing factors is
crucial in helping nurses provide bett…
